Creative Writing - Prompt Me Please

Conversation at the breakfast table this morning...

Jayce sees a pencil on the table that is well used and is only about an inch long. Since it is so tiny, Jayce asked "is that pencil young?". He was thinking pencils start out that small when they are young and then they get bigger as they age, just like people!

That has nothing to do with my post for the day, I just thought I'd share the funnies. And just what is my post for the day?...I don't really know, writer's block I guess, sooo..I went to a creative writing prompt site to get some ideas.

#1 ~ What would you say to an uninvited guest?

Well, I guess that would depend on their age. If this person was a child or and elderly person, I would politely let them know the event is by invitation only. Unless it was some it was some bratty kids that just didn't care...then I'd just threaten them to leave now. Now if it was someone I didn't like that decided to show up and crash the event..well now, that's a whole different story, I would not have any problems telling them where to go and how to get there..unless of course they were tough enough to kick my butt, then I would just get my bodyguard aka husband to kick them out.

#2 ~ Write about how you felt when you discovered you were lied to.

You wanna piss me off, then lie to me. I CAN'T STAND to be lied to. How hard is it to tell the damn truth. Say what's on your mind instead of trying to hide stuff or be fake and false in your demeanor because you don't want me to know how you really feel or what you may have done. Honesty is better than being lied to any day, even if the truth is gonna hurt, it won't be as bad as being lied to.

#3 ~ List 10 things you normally do on a rainy day.

*Read
*Watch movies
*Nap
*Drink something warm, like hot cocoa (only during winter rains of course)
*If it's rainy in the summer..take the quads out in the desert and play in the mud
*Watch the rain
*Browse on the computer
*Scrapbook
*Feel like I'm grounded since it's not too good outside
*Have a comfy pajama day

Creative Writing & The State Fair

This week Shortmama wants to know:

WHAT IS THE ONE BODY PART YOU WANT TO REPLACE?

You make me itch
You make me scream
You make my kids whine out my name

You make me want to scratch my nose off
By the time I'm done I look like Ruldolph

You make me look like a person with ADD
Oh how I can't stop itching me

Can I please replace my immune systems over-reaction to allergens? It is a hereditary thing passed down to me, and I have in turn passed it down to my kids...and it really sucks. Itchy, sneezy, runny, stuffy, CRANKY. And all the allergy medicine in the world is not helpful..not even the last ditch effort of getting allergy shots.

Aside from the creative writing post, I wanted to post a little on the trip to the state fair yesterday. It was reallllly fun. It was in the 90's though, so it was a little hot. I went with my friend Amy and my two daughters Alyssa and Taylor. My oldest daughter Alyssa had a wonderful time the whole time. She just laughs and squeals on all the rides...which makes me crack up to where I can't seem to catch my breath, tears streaming down my face and all. Taylor on the other hand had to warm up to the rides. She was more fearful to begin with this year than last year, which was her first year at the fair. Oh how she was mad at me when we were standing in line for the roller coaster. But I didn't want her to give into her fear...I believe that if you give into your fear that you limit yourself in life. So onto the roller coaster we went. She didn't do too bad, but she didn't do too good either. But after it stopped and she realized she was still ok, then it got better from there and she was begging to go back on the roller coaster again after we had been on a few more rides. So we went again and she was fine. Fear conquered!

We got our traditional old fashioned photo taken, and here it is........

From left to right: Amy, Taylor, Alyssa and myself.

And of course we couldn't come home without our 4 big bags of cotton candy!

Goodbye to peaceful sleep

Shortmama has a link up, and today's topic is....What have you had to say goodbye to?

Welllll...glad she asked. I have had to say goodbye to peaceful nights of sleep on occasion. Sometimes it's because my dog whines in the middle of the night and is barking at something in her sleep. Sometimes it's my son saying he is thirsty..that boy could drink me out of house and home, he is ALWAYS thirsty. I seriously don't know how he isn't attached to the toilet 24/7 with how much he drinks.

But the biggest reason that I occasionally say goodbye to peaceful nights of sleep would be because of my husband. The man talks in his sleep sometimes. Sometimes he talks about moving rock piles from one place to another, he is a plant manager for a rock crushing industry. One time he got up and walked to the end of the bed and was talking some kind of jibberish, I couldn't distinguish what he was saying. But he finally crawled back into bed. And just last night, he sat up quickly in bed and said "they took the flag". I knew that he was dreaming about a game that he plays on the computer. He had a whole conversation with me when I was asking him what he was doing and if he was still dreaming. And he was not talking nicely when I asked him this stuff. I thought about pushing his butt off of the bed, but then decided to just turn over and ignore him...I didn't want him to attack if he didn't wake up after the fall.
