Our Easter

We spent Easter morning relaxing, and then in the early afternoon the kids hunted for their eggs. After that, we took a ranger ride out into the mountains and let the kids play in the river again. We'd live in the/by the/at the river if we could.

I also got a call from my dad. He called me a few weeks back telling me of some medical problems he was going through, and he called to let me know that he also found out that his liver is hardening. Sclerosis of the liver. My father is homeless, has deep depression. Been this way for 10+ years. It is hard to hear this about him, but I knew one day it would come down to this as he turns to alcohol for his comfort. I can't say I really get it, I just know I have always wished things to be different. I do love him and can't stand to see his pain.

Well here is a snapshot or a few of our day at the river....

Alyssa thought the water was going to help her float down...

Taylor burying herself...

Mr. Jayce wading...

I promised Jason I wouldn't post the funny pic of him, so I had to settle for this one...

And see, I was there too!

Valentine Funny and The Renaissance Festival

This Valentine's Day Jason and I decided to stay home and celebrate. He cooked me both breakfast and dinner. We also had bought a gift for eachother. I bought him a Cabela's Big Game Hunter game for the Wii. I was thinking along the lines of "love"...well, he loves to hunt, so now he can do it indoors too! And then it came time to open my gift...and this is what I found...

Some jammies that say "Gimme Some Sugar"

I think we both started busting up laughing at the same time. I think he meant it for both ways...as in "gimme some lovin" and also in the sense that I'm a sugaraholic.

Well today I took the kids to the Renaissance Festival. For those of you who may not know what that is....it's described as a trip back in time. It is five festivals all rolled in to one giant costumed fantasy village with:
  • Twelve Stages of Continuous Live Entertainment
  • An Outdoor Circus
  • A Medieval Arts & Crafts Fair
  • A Jousting Tournament with Three Performances Each Day
  • A Day - Long Feast
You have to have patience getting there though, because it's a long arse wait during the stop and go 5-15 mph drive. That's due to so many people going there on a little two lane road. Long story short, if you don't pack some patience then you may end up pissed off. Short story made long...I was pissed off.

Here are some pics of our time there...

The kids...

Me and the two youngest...

The kids on an elephant...they were watching another elephant give itself a bath

Their elephant wanted to join in on the water play...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!!! I fell off the radar for a little while there, but now I'm back. I didn't even write a good bye note for when I was gone! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed their new year celebration.

Here is a little of what we have been doing. We spent Christmas here at home first and then spent time at my grandparnet's house..they live just down the road from me. Let's see..we all got a cold here in the house. We spent New Year's Eve at Shortmama's house. We played the Wii all night. Well...we half way played anyways...we were too busy cracking up to really get anywhere..but we had great fun! I don't even know how we were cracking up so much since we weren't even tipsy.

I have to tell you..on Christmas day I learned a very important lesson. Do.Not.Wake.The.Kids.If.They.Aren't.Up.Before.Your.Excited.Booty.Is.Up. Seriously. I was the first person up and decided to get everyone up to enjoy the festivities of the day. I will not do this again. I have learned that the two youngest aren't made for getting up before they wake on their own. It was a cat fight with attitude(taylor)/whining(jayce) all.day.long with those two. They drove us crazy.

Here is a little glimpse of what our Christmas looked like...

Here's Miss Alyssa being woken up Christmas morning...

And here's Taylor startled awake...

And here's sleepy boy Jayce...

Me and my brother at granny's house...

And Jason playing our new Wii on our new TV in our bedroom...our pre-Merry Christmas to Us!

We also went to two Christmas parties during this time. One for the fire department since I am on the board...and the other for my husband's company. I have to say I was a little uncomfortable attending the one for my husband's company...I can be pretty shy when I don't know someone (even though I spit it all out here, go figure)...and I didn't know any of the people there, but they all knew at least someone there. I must have a double personality..I'll say anything and everything in front of people I know..but put me in a group full of strangers and you can just fuhgetaboutit. Not always..but most of the time.

Hmm..while posting up these pics I have noticed that my husband set the wrong date on the camera...geez!!! Anywho...that was a little glimpse of our holiday..hope everyone had nothing but good times.

Veteran's Day.....and Awards.

I would like to wish all of the Veteran's a Happy Veteran's Day, and hope they know that today isn't the only day that they are thought of. My husband is an Army Veteran, and I have to say that I am so very thankful that he served before we met. I'm not so sure of all the agony our family would have to have gone through, as I feel greatly for those who are currently serving and their families. Also in my thoughts are those that have greatly suffered surrounding the current event that has taken place at Fort Hood. Seriously, there is a lot of anger that we even have to worry about our safety.

Oh ya, and a little confusion here...Veteran's don't get Veteran's Day off, but the school children do. And stores hold Veteran's Day sales hoping for more profits. Kinda crazy to me, but I don't think that's what Veteran's Day is all about. I'm just sayin'.

Now I have a huge THANK YOU to Mag from Sitting on the Mood Swing at the Playground. Seriously, do you not just love her title! It's so dang good and witty.

So anywho..Mag has passed on 3 awards:

As far as I can tell only one of the awards comes with rules. The Honest Scrap award says I have to share ten honest things about myself. Here goes:

1. I love watching Ultimate Fighting Championship. For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to take training to be a kick boxer. I go to hockey games just to watch them fight. It's kind of strange I guess, since #1 I'm not an angry person and #2 I've NEVER been in a fight!

2. I used to refuse to make coffee at the fire department I used to work at, stating it smelled bad and was yucky. I now drink a cup of coffee a day. I think the fire chief jinxed me...he said "you just wait, you will drink it one day". I definitely can go days without drinking any, but I do enjoy a cup with some yummy french vanilla creamer. Though some of my friends say I'm drinking milk instead of coffee because of how much creamer I add!

3. I have high cholesterol and low blood sugar...go figure. I'm not overweight, don't eat too much and eat mainly chicken for dinner. The cholesterol is hereditary...and the sugar might be my fault. I was a sugaraholic. I still might be, but not as bad as I used to be. So now my body likes to crash to low sugar levels, leaving me feeling shaky and not quite there. It's a great feeling! Not.

4. I was going to stop having kids after my first. There are now 5 kids between my husband and I. I don't know what happened along the way...I don't think anyone told us what causes that! Once we learned though, I got "fixed". Buuuuut..it didn't work, and I ended up with a tubal pregnancy. It sucked. And I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW!! I went in for a yearly woman well check and they took a just in case test. It was a dead give away when the assistant came back in to the room to check the results, and she picked up the stick, looked at it for a few seconds, and said "I'll be right back with the doctor". I can't be part of the small percentage to win the lotto, but I am part of the small percentage to get preggo after being "fixed"!

5. My favorite color is purple.

6. I hate to cook. I grew up with my grandparents who owned a motel. The office was in the living quarters and my grandpa never wanted anyone to cook much since he didn't want it to smell up the place, so we were always going out to eat. And hence, I don't like to cook. I married a man who does! I'm enjoying his yummy french toast while I'm blogging right now!

7. I think I was born to live in a nudist colony. I don't like clothes. I used to streak quite a bit and was never happier. Now...I wouldn't dare...the things that having kids can do to a body..good gawd!

8. I am a really shy person..until I get to know someone. I am more introverted than extroverted. And yet I still have a wild streak to my personality.

9. I have found that being an emergency dispatcher was much easier than raising kids. Enough said.

10. I am so happy that my friend Shortmama introduced me to blogging...I love this shat!

So Mag passed the awards to six people..and I'm going to do the same...

~ The Crazy Baby Mama
~Tattoos and Teething Rings
~One Foot in Front of the Other
~ Living in France
