Welcome back to Friend Makin' Mondays, hosted by Amber @ aefilkins. Today's topic...
With the new year here, and resolutions & organizational goals in full force, what are some of the projects on your list? Are you working on any specific projects around the house, such as purging, organizing, craft projects, home improvement projects? Share with us! {And hopefully you'll be sharing the before & afters on your blogs, so we know what we can tune in for!!}
~ The first project that already got started was planting some shrubs and such in our front yard. We needed to do this for two reasons. First of all, our yard is still a dirt/rock lot..no landscaping = not very enticing at all. The second reason is to try to block our neighbors cactus that ends up in our yard, and in us, and on our outdoor swing, so every time we sit on it we end up getting poked. So over the weekend, this is what we did...
See the neighbors cactus...tons of tiny little red suckers on there just waiting to invade the skin...
~ Another project is to replace some of the blinds in our house. Now that the kids and the dog are done destroying the ones we did have. This is coming a little at a time though...already ordered one for the living room that will come in in about a week..$138..*cough cough*, sorry couldn't breath there for a second for some reason. The ones in the kids rooms aren't going to be this same kind though..we'll stick with the regular plastic blinds for their rooms. It will be particularly nice to replace the ones in my sons room. Seriously, he has a ton of bite marks all over them from when he was younger. BITE MARKS! It's like he was trying to bust out or something, or looking for protein..I don't really know.
~ We also have on order some ledgestones to go on the bottom of our house on the new addition. The stem wall is just the painted bricks right now..and it needs some covering. That is due to come in in a week also.
~ The kids rooms are already re-painted, but still need to fill up their wall space. You can see their new rooms here. Be prepared for the bright, colorful walls! We also need to fill up the walls in almost every room of the house. So that's a project to tackle also.
~ And a very important project is to get to know my camera instead of just snapping pics and hoping for a good outcome. I love pictures, and still have to figure out how to operate our new Nikon Coolpix L100.
Well, I was really done with this post, had just got done taking a picture of Jayce's bite mark ridden blinds..when Taylor came in the room to show me a project she had just got done making. She had been trying to make a piece of cake with a candle on top of it. I have to say she did a pretty good job...but when I saw the candle, my mind immediately went into the gutter..I'm sure you'll understand..take a look...
I love that comment on the bite ridden Blinds. Too funny. LOL love the cake.
ReplyDeleteThe colors for the kids room are fun. I love how bright they are certainly peppy!
And I am with you I need to take some kid of class on knowing my camera better! Sometimes automatic settings just don't capture what i need!
Happy FMM!
The blinds are hysterical! Your project turned out gorgeous! I love bougainvillea here in Arizona, by far my fave plant. The "creation" looks a little phallic to me...LMAO
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are very busy, I love the blinds, so funny!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHA!!! Love it! That is hilarious, that's where my dirty mind went too.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice you can plant pretty things at this time! We can't do really any planting right now.
I love the bright colors on the rooms and the nice little shrub garden, cactus blocker garden. It looks so nice and clean.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks beautiful! Nice job ... I wish I was more creative :/
ReplyDeleteI'm here from Friday Follow, late, but better than never ;) (sorry, my computer kept me off on Friday)

Ok so normally my mind would be in the gutter after seeing that but instead I think of the stupid worlds in Mario Bros...reminds me of those bouncy sky worlds...yeah I need help
ReplyDeleteI love the little garden! Very cute! That's great that you are getting new blinds. Slowly but surely. I think we should look at doing that as well, we need them desperately and they are just so pricey. Good luck with your list!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friend Makin Monday!
Cute garden! I know what you mean about the blinds. Why do they really cost that much? I mean really?
ReplyDeleteYou garden looks great!

ReplyDeleteHapp FMM!
Sounds like you are going to be very busy.
ReplyDelete*giggles* Love the candle ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the garden and glad you are doing something outside in the yard...gonna look pretty now. Hope all the rain predicted doesn't ruin it. I never saw the bite marks on Jayce's blinds...how funny and glad he didn't cut his mouth...maybe that's when he was cutting teeth. Also glad they weren't wood blinds or you'd be picking splinters out of his mouth. Taylor's cake was a hoot...now how do we scrapbook it without being crude...haha
