Random Thoughts

~I was going to start this off by talking about my day yesterday. But I have to mention this mornings events first. It's a bit hairy you see. As in, a little less hair. My 13-year-old chopped.her.hair.off.last.night. She comes to me this morning and tells me that she was trying to cut the tag off of her pajama top and that she ended up getting her hair too, so then she just finished cutting the rest. Her hair used to be, um, maybe 4-5 inches past her shoulders. Now it's at her shoulders. I don't know how she got it so straight. It's seriously pretty straight minus a few long single pieces here and there. You see, she's done this once before, but that was when she was in kindergarten. She gave herself a mullet that time. Ya, it was great. She may have really accidentally cut it when cutting the tag, but I'm not so sure that I'm buying that story.

~Now about yesterday's events. My day started out normally. I dropped my granny off at the superwalmart on my way to my math class. After class I went and picked her up from her shopping and we made a pit stop at Taco Bell drive through for some lunch. It's only about a 13 minute drive from the Taco Bell to our home. Well...we didn't quite make it home. You see, sometimes I feel like I am going to pass out. Sometimes this happens when I am driving. I can tell you each time it scares the crap outta me. So anyways, I had to pull over and get off of the freeway. Usually when this happens, I pull over and sit there for a minute and the feeling passes and I can continue on. Well a couple of years ago I went to the doctor about it and I went through a test to find out that I'm hypoglycemic. That means my blood sugar drops too low, which causes shakiness, feeling faint, and not being able to think as clear.

So anyways, this time it wasn't going away like before. It would start to go away and then it would come back. So I don't remember everything too clearly, but I know that I called my husband, luckily he was still home. I was going to have Shortmama go and pick him up and drop him off where we were so he could finish driving us home. But the imminent feeling of passing out kept coming back, so I ended up calling for the ambulance instead. I luckily never did pass out...thank goodness, cause let me tell ya, I don't really get sick and I hate this passing out feeling, all I could think was I don't wanna die. Ya, passing out makes me think that. But, this episode seems to be a mystery. My vitals were fine. My tests at the hospital all came back normal. So the doctor there doesn't know what caused it. My sugar levels in the ambulance tested at 80, and at the hospital they were 91. So the nurse is wondering if my sugar crashed and then my body compensated for it and started bringing the levels up. I don't really know. I just know I'd like an answer, cause frankly that stuff scares the shit outta me. And I don't get scared easily....unless it's passing out or spiders. So now I have to do a follow-up appointment with my family physician. I'm hoping to figure it all out, cause I'd like these episodes to end.

Your girl has some guts to cut her own hair. I can't think of a 13 year old who would have the balls! LOL

  2. Hope you get some answers, soon. I don't like feeling sick either...not fun!

I had to chuckle about your daughter cutting her hair...not totally sure I buy her story either, but choose your battles. After raising 5, I have come to realize some things just aren't worth fighting over...reserve that for the big stuff.

    Blessings, andrea

Sounds like your daughter may or may not have came up with a good story. Hey, at least its not a mullet again.

I have hypoglycemia too - I can start to feel the effects coming on and try to munch on something (maybe you should keep something in your car??) How scary!

  9. I used to cut my hair too. Once I cut off my ponytail. Not good. (Okay...I still do.) I just can't stand spending so much money on hair!

So glad you were forewarned and could get off the road. That happens to me sometimes, too, and it is very scary. So far, it has gone away within a few minutes.
