Our Easter

We spent Easter morning relaxing, and then in the early afternoon the kids hunted for their eggs. After that, we took a ranger ride out into the mountains and let the kids play in the river again. We'd live in the/by the/at the river if we could.

I also got a call from my dad. He called me a few weeks back telling me of some medical problems he was going through, and he called to let me know that he also found out that his liver is hardening. Sclerosis of the liver. My father is homeless, has deep depression. Been this way for 10+ years. It is hard to hear this about him, but I knew one day it would come down to this as he turns to alcohol for his comfort. I can't say I really get it, I just know I have always wished things to be different. I do love him and can't stand to see his pain.

Well here is a snapshot or a few of our day at the river....

Alyssa thought the water was going to help her float down...

Taylor burying herself...

Mr. Jayce wading...

I promised Jason I wouldn't post the funny pic of him, so I had to settle for this one...

And see, I was there too!

  2. I'm jealous too! I went to Florida a couple weeks ago to visit one of my sisters & was soooo excited to get some warmth... wouldn't you know it it was when they were having record lows. BOOOO!
    Good for you for knowing that you cannot save your dad. I had to stop trying to save my brother. It has to come to a point where they want it for themselves. I still get sad every time I see my brother, but I know in my heart that I am doing the right thing not enabeling him anymore.

  3. I'm sorry to hear that about your dad. It sounds like you are in a good place (mentally) about the situation.

    Looks like you guys had fun at the river.

  4. Great shots of your family enjoying the river! So jealous it looks so warm by you. Sorry about your Dad, I hope he gets the help he needs, it's hard to set by and be helpless. Prayers for him.

  5. Sorry to hear about your dad. Hope it all works out for the best.

    And you don't know how jealous I am that you can be playing in the river already. Then again, I probably won't be so jealous when its 150 degrees there.

    Sorry to hear about your dad, my grandfather had sclerosis of the liver and it was very painful to watch him deal with it. I'm sending you {hugs}

  8. That's terrible about your dad, things like that are always so difficult even when expected. :( The river looks fun, as usual!

    And BTW, I hope that if I ever pop out a couple kids, I still look as good as you! Hot mama. :)
